#FossilGasMap | As the world races to lower carbon emissions from energy generation, false solutions to the problem of the climate crisis arise, masked in green but bearing the same environmental, health, and social costs of coal and oil. Among these is liquefied natural gas (LNG) or fossil gas. In the Philippines, the majority of these LNG facilities are located in Batangas, where the gas plants are allegedly linked to health problems, including an increased incidence of cardiorespiratory illnesses.

Like coal, these facilities are owned by the major players in the Philippine energy industry. With government backing through dubbing fossil gas as a transition fuel, fossil fuel energy companies like Aboitiz, San Miguel, and Meralco all race to monopolize and gain as much profit from this dirty energy source, even at the expense of the Filipino people.
